Here we are

My daughter, you were lucky not to come
my son, you were lucky to stay back
a crazy world ruled by crazy men
is no place for births

we will not mourn those absences
we would, of course if you were
among two fires or two bloodsheds
or dutifully preparing to be orphaned

here we are, the old ones, the witnesses
with that unintended privilege
of watching planes and other vultures go by
with lethal messages as trophies

my daughter, you were lucky not to come
my son, you were lucky to stay back
and since we have been orphaned of children
let us drink to your awaiting souls.

  1. Pearl,

That is lovely. May I ask you, have you ever taken a prenatal containing L-methylfolate instead of folic acid?

  2. No I haven't! Maybe I should ask my RE about those.

  3. Pearl,

Because you have the MTHFR polymorphism, you have a limited ability to metabolize folic acid. Folic acid is synthetic so it has no immediate benefit to the body and must complete a four-step process before it is converted to L-methylfolate so it can be used by the body. Women with MTHFR have a limited ability to complete this four-step process.

I work with NeevoDHA which contains L-methylfolate. L-methylfolate is 7 times more bioavailable than folic acid. It bypasses the MTHFR polymorphism and is directly available for metabolic processes such as DNA synthesis and repair.

It's just something you might want to talk to your RE about. I am sorry for everything you have been through and I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel for you. I think it is wonderful that you are sharing your story with other women in your shoes. Best of luck!
